The release of iOS 16 is only a few weeks away, but Apple still has plans for iOS 15. Just days after iOS 15.5 arrived, Apple began testing iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6. It was first made available to developers on May 18, followed by the public beta the following day.
Apple is expected to unveil iOS 16 at WWDC in June, and beta testing will likely begin right away for developers, with a public beta arriving a few weeks later.
Update 31-05-22: The second beta of iOS 15.6 is now available to developers. The second public beta is expected in a day or so.
iOS 15.6 new features
So far, no significant new features have been discovered in the iOS 15.6 beta. It’s possible that this release will focus entirely on bug fixes and security updates, although it could also lay the groundwork for new features or services to be announced at WWDC on June 6 — features or services that won’t be available. exclusive to iOS 16.
How to get the iOS 15.6 beta
To download the iOS 15.6 beta, go to beta.apple.com on the device you want to run the beta operating system on. Register for the beta and then download the profile.
After you have the profile, go to Settings > General † VPN and Device Management to activate the profile, which requires restarting your iPhone or iPad. Once it reboots and the profile is activated, go to General † software update to download and install the iOS/iPadOS 15.6 beta.
Registered developers can download the developer beta profile by going to developer.apple.com/download on the device they want to install the beta on.
