Apple announced at its WWDC keynote that the M2 MacBook Air wouldn’t be coming until July, and now we know the date it’ll be available for pre-order: Apple has announced the M2 MacBook Air will be available to order on Friday, July 8. Here’s everything you need to know about pre-ordering Apple’s new laptop.
When will the M2 MacBook Air go on sale?
The new MacBook Air goes on sale Friday, July 8 at 5 a.m. PT. (6 hours MDT, 7 hours CDT and 8 hours EDT). In the UK, sales start at 1pm and 10pm in Sydney, Australia.
Apple says the first M2 MacBook Air models will ship on Friday, July 15.
How to pre-order the new MacBook Sky?
There are a few things you can do now to make pre-ordering easier and increase your chances of getting one in the very likely case of limited stock.
Step 1: Create or verify your account with Apple Store now
It is recommended that you check the account you are currently making purchases with from Apple. You don’t want to have to enter a new credit card or alternate delivery address when trying to order your new Apple product. It is best to check it now as it is very likely that Apple will take the Apple Store offline before launching the product. To check your Apple Store account, follow these steps:
- Click this link to find the overview of your Apple account activities.
- Sign in with your password or tap or Face ID.
- Check whether your delivery address is still correct.
- Check if a current credit card is listed as a payment method.
Step 2: Save the desired model to the Apple Store app
You can choose the configurations of MacBook Air you want in the Apple Store app on your iPhone or iPad. Just go through the options and then click Add to Saved Items.
Once the pre-order has been opened, you should be able to find it quickly in the Saved Items once the store goes back online. To find your saved items in the Apple Store app, click your icon in the top right corner and scroll down to and tap Saved Items.
Step 3: Set your alarm for Friday
Especially if you are in California where you start very early at 5am!
Where to buy the MacBook Air
You don’t have to buy directly from Apple. There are many Apple resellers willing to sell you a MacBook Pro, and some may even offer pre-order discounts. We’ll update the charts below when stores start selling the new laptop.
