With Live Text in iOS 15/iPadOS 15, your iPhone or iPad can almost instantly convert text on objects you view through the Camera app into something you can copy and paste. Apple also offers other types of content IDs, one of the most useful of which is a phone number.
With an iPhone XS/XR model or later or an iPad that is recent enough (see list), follow these steps:
- In the Camera app, point to text on a printed object or screen that contains a phone number.
- When rounded yellow-orange corners surround the appropriate text, tap the live text button, which looks like text in rounded corners.
- A phone number has a gray underline below it. Tap it.
- In the menu that appears, tap Telephone call [phone number] if the number is correct.
